Meggitt secures Boeing contract for next-generation standby flight displays

Building on their long history together, Meggitt has won a contract from Boeing Commercial Airplanes for integrated standby flight displays (ISFDs) on their 777X commercial aircraft.

The ISFD measures and displays critical secondary flight data to the pilot-attitude, altitude, air speed and heading. Meggitt’s contract covers the design, development and delivery of ISFDs for entry into service in 2020.

First introduced to the market in 1995 as a back-up to primary digital cockpits, Meggitt’s ISFDs have been installed on over 40 different aircraft programmes, with over 8,000 in-service worldwide.

Tony Wood, Meggitt Chief Operating Officer, said: ‘We have a long history of developing cutting edge, high-performance cockpit displays and specialist air data products, and continue to drive innovation in this area. We are proud of our long-standing relationship with Boeing and are excited to be supporting them on this new project.’

The win extends Meggitt’s existing content on this platform which includes the Emergency Passenger Assist System (EPAS), flight lock actuators and the cargo smoke detection system.
