Close to 900 Meggitt colleagues gathered at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) on Ansty Park to get a view of their new manufacturing facility. The outside of the new Meggitt building is now largely complete and from the MTC, the ground-works and construction were clearly visible.
The Ansty Park site, due for completion by the end of the year, will provide a base for up to 1,000 employees and combines a range of operations within a world-class aerospace engineering and technology environment. It will also serve as the new home for the aerospace, defence and energy group’s international headquarters. It is the largest of a number of global infrastructure investments by Meggitt, as it positions for further growth and will be a hub for next-generation aerospace innovation and R&D, as well as a catalyst for world-class operational performance.
The event was hosted by Meggitt CEO Tony Wood and Ansty site leader, Mike Platt, and colleagues were able to experience a virtual walk-through of the new facility and had the opportunity to ask questions about all aspects of Meggitt’s purpose built aerospace centre of excellence, which is scheduled to become operational in Q1 2020.
As well as housing Meggitt’s global headquarters, the new 440,000sq.ft. facility will also become the European operational centre for braking systems, thermal solutions, and services and support (aftermarket Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and spares distribution).
Mike Platt, Meggitt Ansty site leader, said: “We cannot thank the Manufacturing Technology Centre enough for allowing us to host this event in such an inspirational space. We’re delighted to give colleagues a taste of what the future holds when we transition to Ansty Park next year, and provide an opportunity to talk with the senior leadership team about this ground-breaking new facility. The Ansty Park site is key to our global strategy of developing a world-class manufacturing base, purpose-built with the highest levels of customer service in mind. The contribution of our entire Meggitt team is vital to this process,”
