Bombardier has selected Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems’ integrated braking system for the Global* 7000* and Global 8000* business aircraft. The award consists of nose and main wheel carbon brakes and a fully integrated brake-by-wire automatic braking control system.
Bombardier announced the addition of the Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets to its existing Global 5000* and Global 6000* aircraft at the 2010 National Business Aviation Association’s annual meeting and convention. The Global 7000 features a true four-zone cabin and will provide an extended range of 7,300 nm with ten passengers at Mach 0.85. The Global 8000 achieves a remarkable 7,900 nm range at Mach 0.85 with eight passengers. Both aircraft will be able to cruise at high speeds of Mach 0.90.
Ken Schwartz, Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems’ President, commented: “This award confirms Bombardier’s confidence in Meggitt, adding the Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft to the diverse range of Bombardier aircraft programs incorporating our braking systems.”
Meggitt has equipped Bombardier’s entire fleet of over 1,600 CRJ* Series of regional jets with brakes; supplies the advanced digital brake control system for the Q400* turboprop under a sub-contract arrangement; business jet braking equipment on the Learjet 60* XR*, Challenger 605* and Challenger 850* jets; and provides the total braking system for the Challenger 870* and Challenger 890* business jets. Meggitt is in the advanced stages of design for the all-electric braking and tire pressure indicating systems for Bombardier’s all-new CSeries* family of aircraft.
