Dunlop wins American Eagle maintenance contract

Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems (DABS), a Meggitt group company, has signed a five-year contract to provide Executive Airlines with support and maintenance of the Dunlop brakes on its fleet of 41 Super-ATR aircraft.

Executive Airlines operating as American Eagle provides regional service in the Caribbean for American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Super-ATR is a regional turboprop carrying between 64 and 72 passengers. It is built by Avions de Transport Regional, a joint venture between EADS and Alenia, based in Toulouse. The aircraft’s wheels and carbon brakes were designed by Dunlop Aerospace for short field and static hold capability. There are 283 aircraft flying, accounting for 2.4 million brake landings per year.

Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems has been supplying American Eagle since the delivery of its first Super-ATR in 1981. Under the new contract, Dunlop will assume responsibility for ensuring the maintenance and spares support on the fleet’s brakes.

Managing Director David Johnson commented: “We are very proud to have won this contract with one of our most significant US customers. It reflects their confidence in our expertise, but also the long and successful working relationship that Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems and American Eagle have established over a period of 15 years.”
