Dunlop wins Air Nostrum spares contract

Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems (DABS), a Meggitt group company, has signed a contract with Air Nostrum Lineas Aereas del Mediterraneo SA of Valencia, Spain, under which Dunlop will provide spares support for the wheels and brakes of Air Nostrum’s fleet of ATR72 aircraft.

Dunlop Aerospace has been the original equipment manufacturer on the ATR72 since the introduction of the aircraft in 1989. Air Nostrum has a total fleet of seven ATR72-500, as well as 35 CRJ200, one CRJ900, and 19 Dash8-Q300 aircraft, all flying on short-haul routes. The company operates as an exclusive franchise of Iberia, offering a network of domestic and some shorter international flights. In effect, Air Nostrum functions as one element within Iberia’s overall network of short, medium and long-haul routes.

The ATR 72 is a regional turboprop aircraft for 64-72 passengers, built by Avions de Transport Regional, a joint venture between EADS and Alenia, based in Toulouse, France. Typically, the aircraft operate intensive schedules and, in Air Nostrum’s case, they make up to six flights a day.

David Johnson, Managing Director of Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems commented: “Given the aircraft’s very heavy flying schedules, operators like Air Nostrum need spares support that delivers outstanding performance in terms of on-wing time and despatch reliability. The Dunlop wheel and brake package has an excellent record of reliability and maintainability with operators around the world due to a robust design that has been field proven with over 24 million brake landings on the ATR 72 aircraft.”
