The environmental management system of Whittaker Controls, a company within Meggitt’s Aerospace Equipment division, has been certified to the internationally recognised ISO 14001-1996 standard. The standard supports environmental protection and prevention of pollution in balance with socio-economic needs.
Attainment of the ISO certificate means that Whittaker is meeting a range of environmental management system goals including preservation of natural resources through conservation; pollution prevention; compliance with state and local ordinances; and continuous improvement of its processes to reduce environmental impact.
Jon Rourke, Whittaker Controls’ Manager of Quality Assurance, said: “In line with our Quality policy, which states in part that we strive to lead in our area of business responsibility, we have trained our employees to increase their awareness of the importance of adhering to sound environmental practices. As stated in the ISO guidelines, the success of this system depends on commitment to it from all levels and functions.”
