Meggitt Silicone Products, part of Meggitt’s Aerospace Equipment division, has been contracted by Canadian AvCorp and Vought Aircraft for wheel well and nacelle and aerodynamic seals. The contracts are valued at more than $2.4 million.
The four-year contract with Canadian Aerospace structures company AvCorp Industries, valued at more than $300,000 per year, is for the Boeing 737 wheel well seal package. The seal assembly, made up of 30 separate seals interlocked around the edge of the wheel well, wipes debris from the aircraft tires when they retract. The seals in the assembly utilise a conductive silicone technology that dissipates harmful electrical charges generated when the wheels retract into the well.
AvCorp, based in British Columbia, manufactures subassemblies for the major airframe manufacturers including Boeing and Cessna.
Meggitt Silicone Products’ three-year contract, with two option years, from Vought Aircraft is for the nacelle and aerodynamic seals on the C-17 military cargo aircraft programme. The contract is valued at about $400,000 per year.
Under terms of the contract, Meggitt Silicone Products will also replenish the spares and production inventories depleted by the incumbent supplier.
